Deaf Awareness Training courses

Our lovely trainers, Gabrielle and Andrew, smiling at the camera

At JDA, we have over 20 years of professional experience in delivering high-quality, educational, engaging and enjoyable courses. Andrew and Gabrielle have delivered training to over 1000 carers, nurses and care home management in the past 5 years alone.

Our deaf awareness courses are tailored to the educational needs of those who attend. For example, when training carers, we will focus on the following:

  • How to put hearing aids in and how they work
  • The challenges of lipreading
  • How to communicate effectively with deaf people
  • Experiencing hearing loss for yourself

For Doctors, we would focus more on other areas:

  • The Accessible Information Standard and the Equality Act 2010 - how to comply with them.
  • Experiencing hearing loss for yourself
  • How to communicate effectively face to face with deaf and hard of hearing patients
  • How to ensure patients with hearing loss have full and equal access to your services

We can deliver the course at your location and support between 6 and 15 delegates at a time.

The course will cost from £400 depending on the length and complexity of the course you need. Please call Gabrielle on 020 8446 0214 or email Andrew at andrew@jdeaf.org.uk for more information.
