JDA is a small, independent, national charity. In the past year alone, we have supported 2,500 people – children, adults and families – from little baby Henry (aged two months) to Great-grandpa Monty, aged 104 years!
With costs continuing to rise steeply, we needed to raise funds to sustain our services and meet the ever-increasing demand for them.
So, on 7 and 8 April, we ran a massive crowdfunding campaign.
This uplifting fundraising campaign showed how JDA ensures every deaf person – young, old and everyone in between - is IN our community and has the support they need to overcome their everyday challenges and get the very best out of life.
Our aim was to raise £350,000 towards our annual running costs of £900,000. In these difficult and troubled times, we knew it would be a great challenge to raise this amount. But we had to do everything we could to succeed, to sustain the 40 JDA services on which our community depend through 2024 and 2025.
Throughout the campaign, we shared lots of uplifting photos, films and information about JDA’s services, and why every deaf person with JDA in their lives says I’m In!
Thanks to our wonderful Match Funders (who doubled every donation made on 7 and 8 April), 81 fantastic Champions and over 1,000 donors, we raised £315,000!
Sue Cipin, JDA’s Chief Executive says: “With no government help, we rely entirely on donations from the community - and the love and support they showed us at this challenging time has given us such a boost. We can’t thank everyone enough for their incredible support. This will enable us to continue giving deaf, deafblind and hard of hearing people the specialist support they need to cope in our hearing world, enjoy being part of our caring community and lead the amazing lives they deserve.”
