Jake’s London Marathon challenge for JDA

We were so proud to cheer on 19-year-old Jake as he took on the London Marathon on April 26 for JDA! He ran the 26.2 miles in an amazing 4 hours 16 minutes! 🏅

A huge thank you to Jake – his tireless training and fundraising raised over £1,000 for JDA!

We are a charity very close to Jake’s heart as his mum, Michelle and Auntie, Janine are part of our fantastic staff team. Jake has been a much-loved member of our volunteer team and has seen first-hand just how much of a difference JDA makes every single day.

JDA provides specialist support for people living with hearing loss, helping them face daily challenges and live life to the full. We’re here for people of all ages and backgrounds – from families who have just received the overwhelming news that their baby is deaf, to those struggling to cope with losing their hearing later in life.

For some of the most vulnerable Deaf and Deafblind people – especially those who use British Sign Language – JDA is far more than a service. It’s a lifeline. Without JDA, many would be left completely isolated, particularly in care homes and other settings where communication is so often a barrier and loneliness can take over.

Our members often tell us that JDA gives them something priceless: friendship, confidence, purpose and a real sense of belonging. That’s exactly why Jake is so proud to be running the London Marathon for us – and why we are so proud of him.

We’re incredibly grateful to Jake for his amazing commitment, and to everyone who is supported him.

If you’re feeling inspired and would like to run in next year’s London Marathon, or if you get a ballot place and would like to run for JDA, please email Julia at julia@jdeaf.org.uk or call 020 8446 0502.
